A PPI creation
I. Before it all began
The house lived as all shared houses live: doors that open, voices that cross paths, tasks that get forgotten, small things slipping between the fingers of daily life.
Nothing dramatic. Just life… a little disorderly.
Then, one morning, quietly, something changed.
II. The arrival of a character no one saw come in
He didn’t knock. He didn’t ask permission. He simply settled into the habits.
A screen on the wall. A voice that answers when called. A quiet presence, almost shy.
They named him Alfred.
III. The character-functions come to life
1. The Messenger
He’s the first to reveal himself. Calm, composed, he displays what needs to be known — no more, no less. An announcement, a piece of information, an alert. He never speaks too loudly. He speaks just enough.
He becomes the wall that whispers what the house needs to tell itself.
2. The Keeper of Time
He is precision embodied. He knows when a message should disappear, when information stops being useful. He makes sure nothing piles up, that everything stays fluid, light, alive.
Thanks to him, the house is never cluttered with the past.
3. The Voice
Warm, approachable. She listens. She answers. She turns gestures into simple words. “Hello, Alfred.” And the house starts to collaborate.
She imposes nothing. She accompanies.
4. The Storyteller
He is the gentle memory. He recalls what was said, what was done, what remains to be done.
He gives continuity to the life of the place, like a diary the house writes for itself.
IV. When the characters start dancing together
The Messenger displays. The Keeper of Time adjusts. The Voice answers. The Storyteller connects.
And suddenly, it’s no longer a house. It’s an organism. A place that breathes, that listens, that responds.
The residents no longer live in the house. They live with it.
V. The quiet utopia of daily life
It’s not the technology that impresses. It’s the feeling.
The feeling that everything flows naturally. That tasks synchronize without effort. That everyone feels included, informed, considered. That the house itself becomes a social bond.
A simple utopia. An already real utopia.
VI. Alfred 2.0 — Not a project, but a presence
He is not a promise. He is not a prototype. He is here. Deployed. Functional. Alive.
And like all presences that matter, he keeps improving, without ever ceasing to be useful.
PPI — When technology becomes a character.
